EVXO Cosmetics

First impressions of EVXO's spring collection

Spring cleaning time is here, and that means making room in my makeup drawer to try some new things, too! Since switching up from my heavier, winter-time favs (shout out to Smashbox) I’ve now been grabbing for lighter coverages and dewier finishes.

Enter: EVXO Cosmetics

When founder, Brittni, reached out to me about testing out her Peek-A-Boo Organic Liquid Mineral Foundation and Organic Lipstick, I was super intrigued

A cosmetic line centered around cruelty-free ethics, sustainable packaging and healthy ingredients, while also promising a natural, long-lasting product . . . ? Sounds too good to be true, right?

But y’all, it’s true.

The foundation itself boasts some awesome, wholesome ingredients, like thyme and vitamin E oil, for a formula you can actually feel good about putting on your skin. And by doing some extra digging on their website, I found that EVXO’s foundation bottles are made from recyclable glass with sustainably-sourced wood toppers. (Read more here.)

Brittni handpicked a foundation color, Pearl, for me and sent them my way; lo’ and behold, it was a perfect match.

The foundation glided on super smoothly and blended nicely with the help of a handy-dandy drug store beauty blender. The liquid formula does offer a pretty light coverage, as EVXO promises, but I was pleasantly surprised with the buildability. After two and a half thin layers, I was satisfied with the amount of coverage with a still very natural finish that honestly did not need any setting. Perfect amount of subtle dewiness; I noticed absolutely zero shininess.

From when I put it on in the morning to the evening time the foundation did not budge an inch. Score. Nor did it irritate my notoriously sensitive skin. Double-score

Brittni also handpicked a lipstick shade for me: Radiant Rose. I was excited to change out my go-to reds for a softer pink, and the EVXO’s Organic Lipstick did not disappoint. I’d best describe the shade as a bright, coral pink on my fair skin tone. (May definitely read as more of a true pink on deeper complexions though.)

The pigment wore beautifully and even lasted through brunch and coffee with minimal fading.

Paired with the light, dewy finish of the foundation, the light pop of pink really comes together to round out my spring look!

Other key takeaways:

The foundation packaging! Not only is the packaging very cute and sweet, the wooden cap twists off to become an application dropper. Simply press down on the white button atop the cap to draw product into the nozzle; release and then re-press the button to dispense the drops into your hand, onto a damp beauty blender, or directly onto your face. I personally love this detail because it makes so much less of a mess than traditional pump-bottles.

EVXO currently offers 12 different shades of their Liquid Mineral Foundation. If you think you’re in-between shades, I would actually recommend going a shade darker. I found that the Pearl color looked like it would be a smidge too dark for me, but its sheer formula ended up blending in just perfectly with very minimal oxidization.

Aside from foundation shades, EVXO also boasts seven organic lipstick shades, covering a wide spectrum of hues.
